This is a scented, French garden vintage carnation which has a sweet and spicy fragrance of clove. It has frilly, 5 cm double blooms with a small percentage of singles. Orangy-cream petals are often striped and flaked with tangerine. The foliage is grass like and gray or blue-green . It is best grown as an annual for cut-flower production and blooms in mid to late summer. Chabaud is an old-fashioned type dating back to as early as 1904.
