Description
Salpiglossis ‘Black trumpets’ is very beautiful annual plant which has sprays of deep rich chocolate maroon- black velvet flowers which make you want to touch them. Their gold centres offset the deep colour of the petals to perfection. It makes a very unusual and beautiful cut flower. The flowers continue in profusion until the first frost.
Sowing advice
Sow in spring indoors about 4 weeks before the last frost on the surface of moist seed raising mix. Press them lightly into the mix with your fingers. Don’t cover them with mix as they need light to germinate. Keep them at about 20 deg C . They germinate in about 7-21 days . Plant them outside after the last frost has gone and the soil has warmed up.
