This plant has pretty pink flowers on upright stems , and it looks good in the cottage garden when planted in clumps . It has been used medicinally for many centuries for a number of maladies, but today is chiefly used for its flowering potential . It is a good cut flower. Plant in full sun to partial shade.
Sowing advice
Sow in autumn, winter, spring and early summer.
Cover the seed with moist seed mix. If you live in frosty areas then put outside in autumn, keep moist. Otherwise put the pot in a plastic bag , seal, and keep at 21 deg C for 3 weeks. Inspect weekly, pot up germinated seeds, and propagate these at 21 deg. C. After the 3 weeks, put the ungerminated seeds in the pot sealed in the plastic bag ,into the fridge door for 3 weeks. Inspect weekly & pot up any germinated seeds. After this bring seeds out of the fridge to 21 ° C . If no germination occurs after about 12 weeks repeat the above procedures.
