Description

This plant has nodding pink flowers in late spring. The flowers however are not the most interesting thing about this plant. It is the seed heads which gradually straighten up to form upright, fluffy grey feathery tails after the flowers are pollinated . The plants form a useful and attractive ground cover and the seed heads in drifts look like wisps of smoke , and hence its common name

Sowing advice
Sow the seed in spring into seed pots or trays in moist seed raising mix . Cover the seeds lightly with moist mix. Seal the seed pot in a plastic bag and put into the fridge for 30 days . take out of the fridge and remove the plastic bag. Keep moist and at a temperature of 18-21 degrees C until germination, which usually occurs within 7-14 days.
