This is a perennial vine which does well in moist soil. It has beautiful vivid blue solitary flowers with yellow markings. When the flower is finished the pods form. They can be eaten as a vegetable when young and tender. Being a legume, its roots are nitrogen fixing, and it improves the soil through the decomposition of humus which is nitrogen rich.
