Trachelium caeruleum ‘Lake Michigan Violet’ seeds

This plant has lovely clouds  of violet  flowers above dark green leaves.  It is only rarely available.  It is a wonderful filler for cut flowers, and also makes a great garden and container subject. The flowers have a very faint sweet fragrance .

Sowing advice

Sow indoors in April to July. Sow the seeds in pots or trays , onto moist well-drained seed raising mix . Dont cover the seeds as light is required for germination. Water from the bottom of the pot, to avoid driving the seeds down into the mix. Ideal temp. 15-21°C. Germination takes 2-3 weeks. Transplant seedlings once large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed
