Tithonia ‘Fiesta del Sol ‘ is a smaller and more compact variety of Tithonia rotundifolia . It is the first dwarf tithonia and is an AAS award recipient. It grows to about 60-90 cm tall and loves humidity and heat. Its flowers are a bright orange 7cm daisy shape with yellow centres, and they cover the bush abundantly and in succession, making it a useful plant for a consistent splash of colour in the garden It is a very good cut flower lasting well in bouquets, adding a touch of the tropics to them. It is an easy care plant , and does not seem to be bothered by many pests. Butterflies love the flowers which are a nectar rich source for them. Fiesta del Sol makes a wonderful, bright patio plant for your larger pots and it is easy to grow from seed. Plant it in full sun.
Note: 10 seeds in packet
Sowing advice
Sow the seeds into pots or trays on the surface of a good seed raising mix in spring after the last frost and summer. Don’t cover them as they need light to germinate. Keep them moist and at about 20 deg C. They should germinate in about 2 weeks.
