Primula japonica ‘Millers Crimson’ seeds produce candelabra type flower stems which have intense red flowers. It likes, cool moist conditions , and grows happily along the sides of streams, in full sun to partial shade. It can not tolerate lime in the soil.
Sowing advice
Sow in summer and autumn. Sow in pots or trays. Sow onto moist seed raising mix. Do not cover as light is needed for germination. Water from the bottom of pots to avoid disturbing the seed. Keep moist but not waterlogged. Ideal temp18- 20 deg C. If germination does not occur within 4 weeks, enclose the tray in a sealed plastic bag and put into the fridge for 4 weeks. After this remove the plastic and bring out to the warmth. Keep moist.
