These seeds produce a lovely primula which has mostly white flowers with the occasional violet flowered plant as well. The flowers are scented. Primula chionantha has been awarded the prestigious ‘Award of Garden Merit’ from the Royal Horticultural Society. It likes moist soil which is well drained , fertile and rich in humus
Sowing advice
Sow in late winter to early spring. Sow the seeds on the surface of moist seed raising mix in pots or trays. Don’t cover them as light assists germination. Keep them moist by watering with a mister, or from the base of the pot , so as not to drive the seeds down under the mix. Ideal Temperature 20 Deg C. Seeds should germinate in about 2-4 weeks. If they don’t germinate in this time cover the pot with plastic and put into the fridge at about 4 deg C for about 4 weeks. Bring them back out after this time to about 20 deg C, and remove the plastic cover .
