A semi dwarf poppy which bears large silky blooms in abundance, in a vibrant mixture of red, scarlet, orange, salmon, mauve, pink and white flowers. It has strong stems which withstand wind well.

Description

Pizzicato is a new semi-dwarf strain of oriental poppy. It produces flowers in a mixture of red, scarlet, orange, salmon, mauve, pink and white flowers. Its flowers are produced above lush foliage on strong stems to a height of 50 – 60 cm, and they are strong enough to withstand quite a strong wind. The flowers are large with a diameter of 15 – 20 cm. Pizzicato won the Fleuroselect prize The strong, 50 cm tall stems can even resist heavy winds. It produces up to 20 superb flowers on very uniform plants. It is easily grown from seed.

Sowing advice
Can be sown at any time. Light is needed for germination and seedlings do not like to be disturbed.Nor do they like to be over watered. Either sow where they are to grow ,on well raked soil, or sow in cell trays or pots , a few seeds to a cell. Sow on the top of moist (but not wet) seed raising mix and press in with the hand. Keep at about 20 degrees C. Germination takes 2-3 weeks. Take care not to disturb the roots overly, when transplanting cell grown seedlings.
