From a dense, low clump of narrow grey-green leaves, appear   spikes of rich blue flowers in midsummer. This plant is excellent for cutting, and  the flowers are also attractive to butterflies. They are good at the front of the border and can also be used in pots. Divide the plants  in early spring, and  removing spent  flowers regularly will encourage more buds to form. It flowers in the first year  from seed, from midsummer onwards  if sown in early spring under cover .
