Description
This lovely new annual monarda has very bright rose-purple flowers in corkscrews on a long stem. It is an early flowerer and flowers for a long time. The plants form tight clumps approx 70 cm high . Bergamo doesn’t mind the heat and is quite resistant to mildew. It makes an excellent and beautiful cut flower, and looks great in a container as well.
Sowing advice
Sow in trays or pots ,or direct sow in early spring. Sow the seeds on the surface of the soil and do not cover as this seed needs light to germinate. Keep the soil lightly moist until germination. Germination should occur within 10-20 days at temperatures from 15 to 20 degrees. When the seedlings can be safely handled, transplant to larger pots , or space more widely if direct sown.
