It is a perennial corm, producing leaves in winter , flowering in late spring with long stems of about 12- 20 spectacular turquoise flowers on them, and dying off to be dormant over summer. .
Note: 10 seeds in a packet
Sowing advice
Plant the seeds in autumn in pots or trays in moist seed raising mix. Cover the seeds with approx 4mm mix. Ideal temperature range is 15-25 deg C. with the cool nights which autumn brings. Avoid higher heat than this, and keep them moist but not saturated. The seeds will germinate usually in 4-6 weeks, but sometimes will take longer. Once they germinate keep them in a sunny spot over the winter and although they don’t mind cold, they should be kept out of the frost .
