This dierama is the darkest of all dieramas. The seedlings produced may vary in colour , with some being lighter shades , but most should be claret purple . The flowers are produced on pendulous stems which resemble fishing rods and hence their common name.
Sowing advice
Sow at any time of the year in seed trays or pots. Cover with soil to a depth of 5mm. Place outside or in a propagator between 15 and 20 deg C. Germination takes between 1 and 3 months. Grow on individual grass like seedlings in small pots. Keep frost free and moist the first winter as dieramas are essentially evergreen plants and must not be dried out. Plant out young plants the following spring. Dieramas pollinate easily with other species and varieties. These seeds may produce some flower colours differing from the parent plants
