This plant forms clumps of long slender leaves rather like a grass in form, and from these clumps emerge long spikes of white starry flowers delicately veined in brown.  From the flowers protrude long whiskery stamens which have orange tips  They flower in spring and summer and form handsome spires flowering for a protected period due to the way that the flowers open successively from the bottom of the spike . The plant requires a well drained soil which is not very fertile and can tolerate drought to some extent. It makes an excellent container plant.

It makes a good cut flower
