This is a very old , and well loved variety of snapdragon, which has all of the qualities that make for a good garden flower. It has been in gardens for close on 100 years, and  it is still popular with gardeners today.  It has very beautiful soft dark burgundy black  flowers which have a sheen on them like velvet. It is a hardy plant which will flower beautifully  in spring for you , or if you have some heating can also be grown in winter. As a bonus it has lovely bronze foliage . It makes an excellent cut flower.

 

Sowing advice

Sow  in early  spring, summer or autumn. Sow  in trays or pots
Sow onto the surface of moist seed raising mix . Don’t cover as they need light to germinate.
Germination takes 7-10 days at 15-20°C. Transplant when large enough.
