Gardeners consider this to be one of the best late summer and autumn flowering plants. It has very attractive tall branching flower stems which bear many beautiful, hooded, dark blue flowers. It has a sturdy habit and can be planted in pots . The Royal Horticultural Society awarded it the Award of Garden Merit.

Sowing advice
Sow spring or can be sown direct in autumn.Sow in trays or pots or direct
Direct : Prepare a shady bed with plenty of compost. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed raising mix. Just cover with mix. .Keep moist
Indoors:Seal in a plastic bag, and put into fridge, propagate at approx. 4°C and keep moist. After 1 month then move out of the fridge and keep moist. Germination should occur about 4 weeks after removing from the fridge. As each seed germinates move it to its own pot. Plant out after all danger of frost has gone
