Description

This plant has large clusters of steel-blue flowers, which are somewhat prickly.
It flowers in the first year from seed, which makes it a valuable plant for the border or for cutting. It is excellent both as a cut flower and fresh or dried. It can be divided quite easily in early spring. It is also quite adaptable being able to tolerate hot, dry places, and salty soils . It is attractive to butterflies.
It won the Fleuroselect Gold Medal in 2007 as a plant of excellent merit and was the cutflower of the year in 2009 in America.
