This very attractive dianthus is one of the most beautifully patterned of the china pinks and also one of the most fragrant. It has sumptuous dark maroon – purple fully double flowers which have a lacy edging of white around them. It flowers from early to late summer. Flowers are good for cutting and they have a rich clove scent. The plant is used as an annual though in warmer areas will last for a few seasons. The plant should be divided every second year in spring. Cut the plant back in mid summer, with clippers to keep the plant compact. It makes an equally good container or garden plant, and will tolerate dry soils. It makes an excellent container plant.

Sowing advice
Sow seeds inside 6-8 weeks before the last frost in trays or pots or in spring, early summer, late summer and early autumn. Cover the seed finely with seed raising mix and keep evenly moist but do not waterlog at approx 15 degrees C. Seeds should emerge in approx 3 weeks.
