This calamintha forms a low growing bush, smothered in rose purple flowers, which the bees and butterflies love. It is an easy care plant which can be used in containers , as it tolerates dry soil , and looks good at the front of the border. Its leaves have an aromatic aroma , particularly when crushed. It will self seed gently if conditions suit it and flowers in the first year from seed, about 5 months after germination. It makes an excellent container plant.

Sowing advice

Sow spring and autumn. Sow in trays or pots in moist seed raising mix.
Sow seeds on the surface of seed raising mix and cover very finely with mix. Light assists germination. Keep moist but not saturated, at 20 deg. C. Germination will take about 7 – 21 days. Transfer to 8cm pots when large enough to handle and plant out when danger of frost is over.
