Aster Pavlova Tiger Paw is an intriguing plant . It  has  long stems, which are basal branched bearing double flowers which have   incurved and twisted claw-like petals.

Out of stock

This fascinating aster mixture has very large  15 cm flowers with needle like petals which swirl in patterns like the upper fur of  a tigers paw.

The plant is reasonably  wilt-tolerant and  the blooms are produced on  stout 60cm stems. It is easy to grow, and likes  a sunny spot in the garden. It will provide cut flowers throughout summer, which will last for 8 to 10 days in water. Cut when flowers are half-open; recut stems underwater.

This  mix contains  white, salmon, pale pink, deep rose, and blue. A bouquet of these large flowered asters make a strong statement , and because they have such an unusual form they combine very well with other flowers in  the garden bed, border, or vase. Remove spent flower heads to promote further flowering. Don’t over water but do not let the soil dry out. Aphids can be a nuisance.

Sowing advice

Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost date, early summer , or late summer or autumn. Sow in trays or pots

Sow  into trays of seed raising mix, barely cover  the seeds with a sprinkling of seed mix  or vermiculite.
When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm  pots or trays. Handle the plants with care .
Gradually harden off for 10 to 14 days before transplanting into the flowering site in early Summer. Light spring frosts will not harm the plants. Plant 25 to 40cm apart.
